Conductor

That’s me. Am I a nice looking guy ? You will not know because I am hiding behind this little thing. All I can tell you is I am much older than I want to be and more grey stuff on my head than I want.

I am born in Germany and moved a few years ago to the States to get married.

Working for the German Railroad made me strong.

Working for the American Railroad made me sick.

That’s what this Blog is about – my experience and adventures with the Railroad and the American Way of living.

I love railroading alot. Beside that I consider myself a Computer geek. Since a few years I am running Linux (right now a mixture of Linux Mint and Ubuntu 8.10). A few years means since Vista was shipped on my last Computer. I was not really impressed by that “Product” and I wanted always to be different. Before my Windows Experience my iBook was my little friend – and a good one. BeOS was also a good friend of mine. During my way to bypass Microsoft products OS/2 and OS/2 Warp connected me fast to the Internet – that’s why I changed from the Amiga OS. Basic and Assembler helped me to understand the Commodore 64 better because you could do so much more with it than the Atari VCS 2600. Still like to do a lot of 2600 stuff. Little Travel mates were the Sega Genesis, Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast and PS2 along with the Nintendo Gamecube and Boy. Oh, and don’t let me forget my little Palm Pilot (which I am still using – but it changed from Dark Green Screen now to 320×240 Color).

When I refer to my old Railroad – that’s the German Railroad (Deutsche Bundesbahn). I started at the bottom of everything Railroad and made it to the Top being a Dispatcher for one of the biggest Hump Yards in Europe. On the best days we humped more than 8,000 cars a day. Good old times.
